Speaker Information:

Court Koenning is the owner of Koenning Consulting, a full service public issue consulting firm based in Houston. Prior to starting his own company, Mr. Koenning was the Executive Director of the Harris County Republican Party and was widely credited with achieving historic election victories and shattering all previous fundraising totals.

Then White House Political Director Karl Rove said to the Washington Times that the Harris County Republican Party’s strategic plan, under Court Koenning’s direction, should be exported and duplicated across the country. Many points of his plan were field tested here and later used in President Bush’s 2004 reelection victory which also expanded the Republican’s Congressional majorities. Quoted in that same Washington Times article, Court said “you just gotta go duck hunting where the ducks are.”

In 2005, Court convinced long time friend and radio station owner Dan Patrick to run for the Texas Senate. Dan told Court, “I can’t do this without you,” and with that they proceeded to best three other better funded opponents by capturing nearly 70% of the vote in a four way race. After that historic victory, Sen. Patrick tapped Court to be his Chief of Staff. With just two sessions under their belt, Sen. Patrick is recognized as a conservative leader in Texas.

Court has worked for US Senator Phil Gramm, served on US Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison’s first campaign, was the Special Advisor to then Texas Attorney General John Cornyn and was the Executive Director for the Republican Party in both Harris County and Washington, DC. He has worked on or volunteered for more campaigns than can be listed. Needless to say, his counsel is highly sought after and his professional relationships stretch from Houston to Washington.

Mr. Koenning is a graduate of Texas A&M University. At an early age Court was already being recognized for his leadership potential. He was recruited to travel to the Soviet Union while he was still in high school to learn about the government and the church of that communist country. Traveling around the less-than-hospitable nation with an American flag hanging from his backpack, Court taught the youth of that country what it is like to be an American. That following year, Court was selected to be a delegate at the National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, DC where members of Congress, Administration officials and other government officials develop future leaders.

Court Koenning comes from a multi-generational cattle ranching family. To this day, Court’s family operates a cattle business on a ranch located in DeWitt and Gonzales Counties. The Koennings are known to spend their so-called down time fixing fences, running cattle and being good stewards of the land at their South Texas Ranch. So it is only appropriate that Court is a lifetime member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and serves in leadership positions on multiple HLSR committees.

An instrument rated pilot, Court has been flying airplanes for over fifteen years. He is also a member of the prestigious Houston Realty Breakfast Club.

Court’s wife Dawn is an Assistant Director of Development at Texas Children’s Hospital. The Koennings have two handsome boys, Carson (3 years) and Cade (7 months) and are members of First Presbyterian Church.
